Weather-Rated GFCI Outlets

Extension Cord Safety
Extension cords may seem like a quick solution, but they’re not designed for long-term or heavy-duty outdoor use, especially in Seattle’s rainy climate.
Tip:
Use only cords labeled for outdoor use (look for “W” or “W-A” rating). Avoid running cords through windows or doors, and never plug one extension cord into another. If you find yourself relying on cords regularly, it’s time to install permanent outlets in the right locations.
Upgrade Undersized Wiring
If you’re adding outdoor power to a shed, detached garage, or greenhouse, make sure the wire gauge and insulation are suitable for the distance and load. Don’t assume an old underground line is safe or sufficient. Wires degrade over time and may not meet today’s load or code requirements. We can assess whether a proper conduit or trench is needed and install wiring rated for outdoor burial (UF or conduit-protected THWN).
Keep Vegetation Away from Electrical Fixtures

Keep clearance around service equipment and ensure nothing is touching or obstructing weatherproof covers or disconnects.
